FINANCE MINISTRY TO TRAIN FINANCE COMMISSIONERS ON COST MANAGEMENT THIS WEEK

The Efficiency Unit of the Federal Ministry of Finance is convening a Knowledge Sharing Forum on Cost Management for state government officials on November 23, 2016.
Participants such as commissioners for finance and top civil servants drawn from the 36 states of the federation and the FCT would attend the one-day forum.
A statement from the Ministry of Finance, signed by Director Press, Salisu Nainna Dambatta, said the development followed a decision by state governors during one of the National Economic Council meetings to key into the efficiency drive initiated by the current administration to improve the management of public expenditure.
“By building the capacity of state commissioners for finance and other top officials involved in spending public resources, the Federal Ministry of Finance through the Efficiency Unit will be contributing towards prudent application of public funds at the sub- national level,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, the unit will hold the second batch of training on cost management for officers in Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs). The workshop is scheduled for tomorrow at the Auditorium of the Federal Ministry of Justice, Abuja.
