A former Minister of Information and Culture, Professor Jerry Gana, yesterday, said he is optimistic that the modified Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will solve numerous challenges facing Nigeria at the moment.

He dismissed the notion that Nigeria would break up soon, adding that God loved the country beyond imagination.

Gana, who delivered the convocation lecture at the Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, titled: ‘Building a Culture of Academic Excellence in Nigerian Universities’, told the Federal Government that it was time to include private universities as beneficiaries of intervention activities of TETFUND.

“Before I start this lecture, I am a politician; I appreciate the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and I am sure we shall use the PDP to solve Nigeria’s problems and the rest will be history,” he said.

He also attested to the unity of the country, saying, “I don’t believe in the notion that this country will break. Nigeria will never break up. This is an idea of God and he will uphold the country. Nigeria is one of the most powerful countries of the world; that’s why the devil is fighting us. All we need is sustainability and leadership that will lead the country aright; and I see God bringing that about soon in the country.

“There are many Nigerians who are passionate and believe in the country. There are many experts that the country is blessed with and they will soon take charge of the country,” he said.
