The Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbe, has confirmed that the Federal Government was under pressure to lift the ban on rice importation. He added that not a few believed the Central Bank of Nigeria’s ( CBN) Anchor Borrower Programme would record tremendous success it now achieved.
Ogbe gave these testimonies over the weekend in Ebonyi during an inspection tour by the Presidential Task Force on Rice and Wheat production who visited several farms in Ebonyi State and Kebbi states.
Accompanied in the tour by Ebonyi and Kebbi state governors, Dave Umahi and Alhaji Abubakar Baguda, CBN governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, Ogbe described the CBN governor as revolutionary in his economic management strategy.
According to Ogbe, the CBN governor has etched his name in the annals of Nigeria’s economic management history as revolutionary with the rice revolution he started across the country.
