Earlier reports had claimed Ize-Iyamu and Prince Odi will be running under Peoples’ Democratic Party. Flyers of Mercy Johnson’s husband going for the deputy governor was reportedly seen around Benin even before the PDP primaries that picked Ize-Iyamu.
Report has it that the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the forthcoming Edo state governorship election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Monday evening picked Prince Odi Okojie, Mercy Johnson’s husband as his running mate. Before his announcement, Prince Odi’s deputy governor’s flyer under PDP had flooded Edo state. However, speaking exclusively to NAIJ.com via Twitter, the actress denied this report. Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu who defeated two other aspirants during PDP primary election held in Benin City on Monday will face All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Mr. Godwin Obaseki on September 10 gubernatorial election.
Johnson and her husband have been campaigning and empowering the people of Edo for a while now in anticipation of this day. The Nollywood actress got married to Okojie on August 27, 2011 and the couple has three lovely children.
