2 BROTHERS CHARGED TO COURT FOR STEALING 1MILLION NAIRA

Two brothers- Ugochukwu Nwafor and Christian Nwafor, were on Wednesday arraigned in an Enugu Magistrates’ Court on charges bordering on conspiracy and stealing N1million. Ugochukwu, 32, and Christian, 35, both indigenes of Enugu North Local Government Area, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing. The defendants denied committing the offences.

Prosecutor Cajethan Ugwu, said that the matter was reported at the Enugu Central Police Station on Aug. 27 by the complainant, Mrs Eunice Alegbu. Alegbu in his testimony told the court that she entrusted her shop to Ugochukwu having hired him as shop assistance because she planned to expand her business. She said that Ugochukwu used the money realised from sales to open a shop for his brother, Christian without her knowledge.

“It was my money that Ugochukwu gave to his brother which he used to open his own provision shop because I know them too well. “The removal of N1, 000 000 from that shop I opened for Ugochukwu has brought down the shop completely,” she told the court. The Magistrate, Mr J. Agu, advised the complainant to focus mainly on the charges when testifying on the next adjourned date. Agu adjourned the matter until Nov. 8 for continuation of hearing. NAN
