Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno has declared that political platforms are not what define his leadership or commitment to his people, stressing that they are mere political convenience and enlightened state interest.

This was as he said that he was not sure if he will remain in the PDP or move to the APC or YPP, adding however, that political platform will never define who he is.

The Governor who again stirred curiosity over the direction of his political future after making comments that indicated of a possible change of party, stressed that his main goal is to serve the people of Akwa Ibom State.

Eno, who stated these at Thanksgiving Service held in his honour at The Apostolic Church, Maboju Assembly in Lagos on Sunday, pointedly said he was not certain where he might end up politically, thereby raised questions about a possible defection.

He however quickly said that he is not planning to leave his current party, but will stay committed to his role and will continue to connect with all people, no matter their political background.

In the words of Eno; “I will remain a governor connected to the people, regardless of party. I will continue to unite all our parties, regardless of where God will take me to. That is not to say I am going anywhere”.

Governor Eno also sang a line from a popular Christian hymn during the service with the congregation, expressing his faith and the uncertainty of the future, saying; “Oh, the future lies before me, and I know not where I’ll be, but where’er my path be leading, Saviour, keep my heart with thee”.

The Governor urged the people not to be afraid of political changes, stressing that politics is always shifting, and it’s important to understand the times, just like the biblical sons of Issachar who were known for their wisdom.

He said; “There is no need to be scared. Those of you in politics know that there are no two elections that are the same. People must always understand. We must clearly understand the time and seasons so that we do not swim against the tide”.

Governor Eno therefore urged the people to stay spiritually alert and wise, saying, “He that has ears, let him hear what the spirit says to the church”.
