4 DROWN IN KADUNA RIVER AFTER TRAILER ACCIDENT IN NIGER

Four persons have been killed after a heavy-laden trailer lost control, hit a motorbike and fell into the Kaduna River separating Izom and Lambata in Niger State.

The incident occurred at 4:30pm on Saturday, 20 kilometers from Suleja, leaving the trailer driver and three other passengers dead.

The incident brought the number of accidents along the Minna-Suleja Road to three in one week.

An eyewitness said the trailer conveying a container bearing an unknown content had a break failure, tried to manoeuver and then hit a bike man with his passenger leaving them seriously injured.

It was gathered that officers of the Federal Road Safety Corp arrived at the scene of the accident and made efforts to evacuate the bodies of the trailer driver and the three passengers.

The injured motorcycle rider and the passengers who sustained injuries were rushed to a medical facility at the Gawu Babangida in the Gurara Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that the trailer which took off from Kaduna was heading for Lagos before the accident.

The incident caused gridlock along the Minna-Suleja which is under repairs.
