One Michael Adunola and a woman, Atinuke Olawoyin, on Tuesday appeared before an Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ile-Ife, for killing his wife and baby.
Adunola and his accomplice were accused of killing Esther, his wife, and Glory, his daughter said to be 14-months-old.
PUNCH Metro had earlier reported on May 28, that two headless bodies suspected to be mother and child were found around Isale Agbara Area of Ile Ife.
Addressing the court, the prosecutor, Sunday Osanyintuyi, said the accused committed the offence on May 23, 2020, around 12 noon at Ile-Ife.
He explained that the accused conspired with a friend and murdered his wife and baby.
He said the accused unlawfully killed Esther and Glory and cut off their heads and hands.
The offences committed were said to contravene Sections 242, 319(1), and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
Because of the nature of the case, the pleas of the accused were not taken.
Magistrate Muhibah Olatunji told the prosecutor to duplicate the case file and send it to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution at the State Ministry of Justice for legal advice.
She ordered that the accused be remanded in Ilesa Nigerian Correctional Centre and adjourned the matter till July 28, for mention.
