ISWAP PRESENTLY ATTACKING DIKWA TOWN IN BORNO

ISWAP insurgents have staged an attack in the garrison town of Dikwa in central Borno, Northeast Nigeria.

Islamic State West Africa (ISWAP) insurgents are currently attacking Dikwa town about 90 km east of Maiduguri, Borno State capital, Northeast Nigeria.

HumAngle learned that ISWAP fighters  have taken control of major access roads into Dikwa.

The security situation in the garrison town is fluid and developing.

This is at least the fourth attack by ISWAP targeting Dikwa town sncd January 2021.

During the previous attack in March, insurgents dislodged troops, overran the town and destroyed parts of the United Nations humanitarian hub after a siege that trapped aid workers in a bunker.

On Saturday,  the UN announced suspension of humanitarian operations in Dikwa and Damasak.
