25-DAY POWER OUTAGE LOOMS IN LAGOS AS TCN GIVES NOTICE OF SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE

Residents and businesses may experience power outage, starting Monday, July 28, as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) is set to commence scheduled maintenance on the Omotosho–Ikeja West 330kV transmission line.

According to a public notice issued on Friday, July 25, the maintenance work will run daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is expected to last until Thursday, August 21, 2025.

The company warned that the maintenance exercise will affect power transmission across its network, leading to load shedding and potential outages in some areas.

“Customers may experience intermittent power supply and load shedding across our network due to the planned TCN outage,” the statement read.

While no specific areas were listed, the affected transmission line is a major route feeding electricity into parts of Lagos and nearby regions, raising concerns over supply stability during the maintenance window.

The company expressed regret over the anticipated inconvenience and appealed for customers’ understanding, adding that the exercise is necessary to improve the reliability and performance of the grid infrastructure.
