ADAMAWA PDP ALLEGES PLOT BY STATE GOVT TO USE COURT TO STOP RERUN

The Adamawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has claimed a plot by state government to use one of its High courts to restrain INEC from conducting the rerun polls fixed for March 23, 2019.

Mr. Tahir Shehu, the state PDP chairman, who made the allegation yesterday, appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to play his fatherly role by ensuring that the March 9 inconclusive governorship election was concluded.

Shehu said: “We urge Mr. President to play the role of a father; that he is for all of us in Adamwwa State and the country at large.

“The desperate move by the leadership of Adamawa State government to upturn the mandate of the people through the court has come to our attention.

“Part of The alleged moves is to lobby the presidency to cause the state High Court to slam INEC with an injunction, restraining it from conducting the rerun elections.

“They intend to use a governorship candidate, who allegedly claimed that the logo of his party is omitted on the ballot in the last governorship election to achieve the goal,” he said.

Shehu declared that with a transparent and credible supplementary election, the PDP is sure of wining the March 23 exercise.
