President Muhammadu Buhari met with service chiefs on Thursday in Abuja.
The agenda of the closed-door meeting was not made public.
However, Presidency sources told The PUNCH that such security meetings were routine at the State House.
“The President and heads of security agencies meet now and then.
“It is simply to discuss security issues”, one source stated.
The PUNCH recalls that such meetings were held before each of the just-concluded polls that took place on February 23, March 9 and March 23.
Among those who attended Thursday’s meeting were the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Gabriel Olonishakin; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas; and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai; and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ahmed Abubakar, sent representatives.
The Minister of Defence, Brig.-Gen. Mansur Dan-Ali (retd.); National Security Adviser, Major-Gen. Babagana Monguno (retd.); DG, Department of State Service, Yusuf Bichi, and the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, attended the meeting
