The Governorship Screening Committee of the All Progressives Congress in Bayelsa State on Saturday screened the six aspirants of the party at its secretariat in Yenagoa, the state capital.
Those screened were the immediate past Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri; a former Commissioner of Police and only female aspirant, Diseye Nsirim-Poweigha; immediate past INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Cross River State, Dr. Frankland Briyai; Mr. Preye Aganaba; Mr. David Lyon and Mr. Ebitimi Amgbare, a former governorship candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria.
Prior to the commencement of the exercise, the APC Screening Committee for Bayelsa State led by Ita Song had assured all the aspirants of a level playing ground.
He said that the committee had a responsibility to ensure hitch-free primaries on September 29 for the governorship election on November 16.
In separate interviews with newsmen after the screening, Lokpobiri and Briyai expressed satisfaction with the process.
