BORNO COMMISSIONER DIES

Borno State has lost its Commissioner for Environment, Alhaji Waziri Imam, following which Governor Kashim Shettima ended his relocation to Bama and inspection of reconstruction work in destroyed communities after his visit to Chibok, Gwoza, Askira-Uba and Damboa Local Government areas, all in southern Borno.

Secretary to Borno State Government, Usman Jidda Shuwa, announced the Commissioner’s death in a statement. The Commissioner, who is a younger brother to an All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain, Alhaji Kashim Imam, died after a brief illness in Maiduguri, yesterday, morning.

The governor was in Chibok to assess reconstruction works and interact with some stakeholders, when his Commissioner for Environment’s death forced him return to Maiduguri Imam, aged 54, is survived by a widow and six children. He was buried yesterday in Maiduguri.
