BUHARI’S GRANDDAUGHTER SET TO WED

Preparations are in top gear as Halima Amira Junaid, granddaughter of late former President Muhammadu Buhari, is set to marry Walid Shehu Mauzu in Kaduna State.

Halima is the daughter of Nana Hadiza, who some years ago married former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami. Before then, Hadiza had been married to Captain Junaid Abdullahi, with whom she had six children.

The wedding fatiha is scheduled for August 30, 2025, and will be preceded by a series of ceremonies including a bridal soiree, Kamu, and a dinner. Pictures of the bride and groom-to-be have already flooded the internet, sparking wide conversations.

The wedding announcement comes just weeks after the death of the former president in London. Buhari passed away on July 13, 2025, following a brief illness. Tributes have continued to pour in, with his daughter, Hanan, describing him as “a part of me.” She said, “What I will miss most about him is his sense of humour. I look up to him as a part of me.”

She also appreciated Nigerians who had chosen to forgive her father, saying, “First, I want to thank those who forgave him. This is something good for the country, not easy to hold in one’s heart. Nigerians know he always meant well. Sometimes we his children felt jealous. But Baba was for everyone.”

The timing of Halima’s wedding has sparked mixed feelings online. While some congratulated her, others questioned if it was proper to hold such a celebration so soon after Buhari’s passing.

One netizen, mamanicole6817, commented, “This caption is chaotic 😂.”
Another, shuga_mary, wrote, “Such a pretty girl, congratulations 🎉.”
But ot.interiors asked, “Isn’t she supposed to be mourning grandpa?”

Mz_robeee said, “Wait I Dey try comprehend the caption, e come Dey like say I no pass English 😑😑😑.”
Christabel_sunflower added, “Na only me nor understand 😮.”

Others brought politics into it. Sammyspotlight93 remarked, “Beautiful family, but una Grandpa no do well as a President.”
Emmydavid007 wrote, “May your marriage be full of same blessing your grandfather put to this country.”

Some made jokes about the online write-up. Msbee_starrplus said, “Caption dey cry😂😂😂.”
Priscapweedie echoed, “The caption is confusing 😂😂.”
Vianney_n teased, “See family details you gave us. My brain almost knocked whilst trying to understand the family tree you dropped for us 😩. You for leave am at Buhari’s granddaughter 😩.”

Others simply prayed for the couple. Yakaka27kalli wrote, “Masha Allah Tabarakallah 👏 Allahumma barik 👏👏.”
Queen_kateelfrida said, “They are so cute.”

With Halima’s wedding only days away, the event is already trending online, balancing between joy and criticism. For some, it is a moment of celebration for the young bride, while for others, the question remains whether the family should still be in mourning.
