CALABAR SOUTH LG CHAIRMAN, ARCHIBONG FLAGS OFF IMMUNIZATION WEEK IN GRAND STYLE

In a radiant display of leadership, commitment, and compassion, the Executive Chairman of Calabar South Council, Pst. Hon. Patrick Archibong, proudly flagged off the first round of the National Immunization Plus Days and African Vaccination Week at the Primary Health Centre, Ewa Ekeng, on Friday May 2, 2025. The event, which attracted a cheerful crowd of health workers, community leaders, and mothers with their babies, marked a significant stride toward a healthier Calabar South.

With warmth and resolve, Deaconess Eme Archibong, the Director of Local Government Health Authority (DLGHA), welcomed attendees and underscored the life-saving importance of immunization. “Today we are not just launching vaccines; we are launching hope, protection, and a healthier future for our children,” she declared passionately. She assured the community that health workers are fully mobilized and ready to comb every nook and cranny of Calabar South, ensuring no child is left behind.

Deaconess Archibong also commended the Chairman for gracing the occasion in person, a rare gesture that she said “speaks volumes about the value this administration places on primary health care and the future of our children.” She noted that his presence alone has elevated the profile of Calabar South’s health system.

In his remarks, Chairman Patrick Archibong radiated sincerity and conviction as he addressed the gathering. “Every child under five deserves a fighting chance, and immunization is the shield we must raise on their behalf,” he stated. He praised the relentless efforts of mothers and frontline health workers, calling them the true heroes in the battle against preventable diseases. “Polio must remain at zero, and with your help, it will,” he urged.
The Chairman was made to give the first set of babies the Polio immunization which he did with smiles.

As the event concluded with cheers, songs, and the laughter of healthy children, the message was clear: Calabar South is not just vaccinating its children—it is vaccinating its future with care, unity, and purpose.
