There’s a brewing controversy over a letter purportedly written by Benue State Chief Judge, Justice Ikpambese. In the letter dated 14th November, 2023, the Chief Judge directed the upward review of appearance fee for lawyers in the state from 2,500 Naira only to 10,000 Naira with effect from January 2024.
Tongues have been wagging over where the learned judge got the powers to decide what lawyers are paid in the State judiciary.
