The trial of Abuja based, self- proclaimed prophet, Graham Jacobs for forgery and impersonation could not continue as scheduled yesterday because a new prosecutor appeared for the case.
Abujareporters gathered that given the sensitive nature of the case, and the need for diligent prosecution, the Police decided to send in one of its best and most experienced prosecutors to handle the case.
The case which is being handled by Chief Magistrate Chinyere at Abuja magistrate court in Wuse Zone 6 has now been slated for hearing on 10th October 2017. The choice of the new date was not without drama yesterday as the plaintiff’s lawyer attempted to drag the hearing to December after the new prosecutor had called for a short adjournment so that he could brief himself of the particulars of the case.
The presiding judge, had to intervene as both prosecutor and defendant’s team could not agree on a date.
Graham Jacobs is being accused of forging the signature of a member of the Board of Trustees of Elite in Business Association and replacing same with that of one Beatrice Adannaya Nwachudo. The self- acclaimed prophet is also accused of impersonation.
According to the Police First Information Report, FIR, the offences are contrary to Sections 364 and 132 of the Penal Code. On 31st October 2016, one Lota Eze Nwafor was said to have filed a direct criminal complaint of forgery and impersonation against Graham Chukwunonso Nwachudo, who we all know as Prophet Graham CN Jacobs.
In the FIR, the Police disclosed that it was alleged that Graham, sometimes between June and July 2016 forged the signature of Lota Eze Nwafor and also altered the Memorandum of Association of the Elite in Business ltd by altering the company’s Form CAC3 and CAC2.
In the said alteration, shares that were allotted as 50% each to both parties were now changed in favour of Graham who now had 90% and allotted Lota Eze 10%.
Graham did this by allegedly forging Lota Eze’s signature to relinquish her shares in the Elite in Business Limited . On 10th June, 2016 without her consent he also removed her as one of the Directors in Elite in Business Limited as well as a member of the Board of Trustees in Elite in Business Association.
He also allegedly replaced her with one Beatrice Adannaya Nwachudo and paraded the latter as the company secretary and gave same person shares allotment in the same company.
The Police FIR further disclosed that during Police investigation and Forensic examination and analysis, it was proved that Graham indeed forged the signature as stated above, indicating that he indeed committed the offences as charged.
At the first hearing, Graham Jacobs pleaded not guilty and the whole world is waiting to hear how he would wriggle out of the major scandal that has seen him lose followership and respect.
Hearing of the case has been slated for midday 10th October.
