The public prosecutor’s office in the region has opened an investigation into the incident.

“Accounting evaluations are underway. The investigators are examining the data relating to the contract and the verbal agreement between the two parties,” said Filomena Pedullà, Davies’ lawyer.

“The girl (Davies) was sent a transfer of 200 euros when a fee of 600 euros was agreed.”

Pedulla also said the show of solidarity for Davies had been massive as she had received many employment offers from several businesses in Calabria on her client’s behalf.

The incident came barely two weeks after Alika Ogorchukwu, a Nigerian street vendor, was killed in broad daylight by Filippo Ferlazzo, a 32-year-old Italian who is alleged to be suffering from a psychological disorder.
