There was tension, yesterday, around Sunnyville Estate in Abuja as ZAHRA Indimi, sister in law to Mohammed Babangida resisted all efforts by law enforcement agencies to ensure that her sister’s kids were returned to their father. Zahra’s sister, who is involved in a divorce suit against Mohammed Babangida is presently abroad as she is believed to have gone for hajj.
When last the court gave an order concerning the kids, it declared that the status quo be maintained which meant that the kids should continue to be with their father who had in his custody. However, all efforts to enforce this has been frustrated by Mohammed’s estranged wife who was said to have continued to give excuse to delay the return of the kids to their father where they were before the court gave the ruling.
Indeed, events came to a head when it was learnt that the kids were going to be registered in a school different from the one they were attending before this forcing Mohammed to call in the law enforcement agencies.
Given the fact that their mother was out of Nigeria, sources gathered that Mohammed got to know that the kids were in Zahra’s custody and she was asked severally to produce them but she denied that they were in her custody.
Events came to a head yesterday when she left her Katampe home for Sunnyville Estate where Police source believed the kids were being kept. It was widely believed that she was taking food to the kids. The Police accorsted her but she stood her ground claiming that she was there to see a friend. All efforts to make her see reason and that the future of the kids was at stake as they were supposed to have resumed at school and that she was also blocking the enforcement of a court order proved abortive as she insisted that she neither did any wrong nor know the whereabouts of the kids.
