The Emir of Bauchi Alhaji Rilwanu Sulaimanu Adamu has ordered the suspension of one of his council members, the Waziri of Bauchi Mohammadu Bello-Kirfi from the Bauchi state Emirate Council.

The Emirs directive was made available in a statement on Monday, March 6.

The statement said Bello-Kirfi, a former minister of special duties during the President Olusegun Obasanjo regime was suspended for his disloyalty.

The Emir in his statement said his second in command was suspended due to,“unsatisfactory conduct and disloyalty to the Bauchi Emirate”.

Although it is not specifically clear what the Waziri did, Daily Sun reports that an incident between the Emir and his deputy at the Mosque could have led to the suspension.

It was gathered that on Friday, March 3, during the Juma’at prayer, the Waziri openly rebuked the Emir after he had signaled another Alhaji to stand up from a seat.

“When the Waziri came into the mosque, he saw Alhaji Adamu Aliyu (The Walin Katagum), former Nigeria Ambassador to Japan, sitting close to the Emir which was supposedly his position,” a source said.

“The Waziri felt it was not right and promptly reprimanded the Wali and as the Wali made to change his position, the Emir of Bauchi held his hand and asked him to remain seated.

“The action of the Emir, according to our source, led the Waziri to rebuke the Emir openly, telling him that he is not the rightful person to occupy the position, saying the Emir’s action was tantamount to bringing disrespect to the Bauchi emirate council.”

The source added that the Emir was furious with the public disrespect of the Waziri and directed his immediate and permanent suspension to assert his authority.
