The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has launched intensified patrols around churches and border communities as part of renewed efforts to ensure the safety of residents during the ember months.
The command in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh said that in a special operation carried out on November 9, 2025, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, in collaboration with personnel of the Department of State Services (DSS), local hunters, and vigilante groups, conducted a day-long church patrol across forested and boundary areas linking Bwari–Kaduna State, Bwari–Niger State, and Gwagwalada–Niger State.
The exercise, which lasted from 6:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., was aimed at building public confidence, discouraging criminal elements, and assuring worshippers of their safety while attending religious activities across the FCT.
During the patrol, officers met with church leaders and sensitized them on basic security measures, including the need to limit late-night services, maintain close communication with security agencies, and promptly report suspicious persons or movemen
FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, has further directed the blocking of identified routes used by criminal gangs, while ensuring that strategic security posts within forest zones remain active and closely monitored.
