JUST FORMER SPEAKER DIMEJI BANKOLE LOSES MOTHER, ALHAJA MONSURAT BANKOLE, AT 78
Alhaja Monsurat Bankole, mother of the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, has passed away at the age of 78. She died in the early hours of Friday, January 10, 2025, after a brief illness.
Although the details surrounding her death remain private, tributes have been pouring in for the family of Chief Suarau Alani Bankole, the Apena of Egbaland, on the loss of Alhaja Monsurat. She has been widely described as a compassionate mother and mentor who positively influenced the lives of many.
The late Alhaja Monsurat Bankole was known for her dedication to the welfare of others and her passion for community development. Her contributions to her immediate environment and beyond have been celebrated as impactful and exemplary. She is fondly remembered for her good deeds and selflessness.
BURIAL ARRANGEMENTS
Sheikh Ikleel Lawal, the Wakeelul Muslimeen of Yorubaland, Edo, and Delta, confirmed the passing of Alhaja Bankole. Popularly referred to as “Sugar,” Sheikh Lawal announced that the late Iya Adini of Egbaland will be buried on Friday, January 10, immediately after Solatul Asr (around 4 PM), at her husband’s residence in Oluwo, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
