Mother and daughter taken away, and one casualty as suspected kidnappers invaded ACO/AMAC Estate, Sabon Lugbe, Abuja, at the early hour of Wednesday.
It was not a goodnight for the residents of the estate along the Abuja Airport road, whose sleeps were disturbed by the sporadic sound of gunshots by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.
According to an eye witness account, the attack seemed well planned as the gunmen attacked a residence in the phase 2 part of the estate, carting away their victims after gaining access by jumping over the fence, breaking the door, and forcing through their way to the victims bedroom, exiting on motorcycles through the mountains area on the road leading to Kuje area council behind the estate.
“The attackers bullet shots were seen to penetrate the security house doorframe, and fresh blood was on the floor from an injury sustained by the security guard, who reportedly unluckily could not survive it after being rushed to the hospital”.
The courageous husband narrated his struggle to resist them from taking his wife and daughter; he spoke with CIIRONEWS Correspondent:
“The dare-devil came to the house around 12:15am and forced into the main gate, shot the security guard by the head, and forced into the house with sporadic shooting, and took my wife and daughter away.
“I sought for help by blowing a whistle, but to no avail. No help came to us. The case has been reported to the police”.
The incident has become worrisome to the residents of the estate, who lamented security concerns in the estate after similar occurrences in recent times.
“When I heard the first gunshot, I thought it was a common shot from the community security, but it became sporadic, louder, and unfamiliar. Then fear gripped me, and I started praying for safety.
“A similar scenario happened last year in this estate, which made many pack out of the area. This is becoming worrisome”, said a resident.
