The Niger State Police Command has arrested Danjuma Bisalla (30) for allegedly killing his wife, Uwani Danjuma over allegation that she appeared to be praying for him to die. Bisalla was alleged to have killed his wife on April 11, 2019, at Uddu Village in the Rijau Local Government Area of the state, following a misunderstanding between them. The suspect was arrested by a team of policemen attached to Rijiau Division following a tip-off. The victim, it was gathered, had on early April 11, told Bisalla, who was on a sick bed, that if he died, she would remarry. These words allegedly prompted Bisalla to kill her. Bisalla attacked his wife with a machete while she was asleep. He inflicted cuts on her neck and she bled to death.

Bisalla confessed to have deliberately killed his wife because of her statement. His words: “I can’t imagine my own wife telling me that if I die, she would remarry. At that statement, I lost my temper and used the machete to cut her neck. She bled to death. I do not regret killing her because she wanted me dead. I killed her so that she will not remarry. She shouldn’t have said that to my hearing. There is power in the tongue. So, I have to let her go. Allah will send her to hell fire for that unguarded comment.” The Niger State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mohammad Abubakar, while confirming the incident, said that the suspect had confessed to the crime. He added that Bisalla would be charged to court.
