ABUJA—  Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Prisons Service, Ahmed Ja’afaru, has announced the re-arrest of five of the 13 inmates  who escaped from Koton-Karfe Medium Prisons in Kogi State, Saturday morning.

He disclosed this, yesterday, during an on-the-spot assessment of the incident in Koton Karfe prisons.

The prisons’ boss also confirmed that 13 prisoners, compromising 10 pre-trial detainees and three convicts, escaped from the facility during the incident.

He disclosed that five pre-trial detainees had been recaptured with the assistance of other security agencies and local vigilance groups as well as individuals and had been returned to the prison.

Public Relations Officer of the prisons service, Francis Enobore, told journalists that in the meantime, the Comptroller-General had set up a three-member panel to carry out investigation into the circumstances surrounding the escape and forward the report to his office for necessary action.
