KANO POLICE RECOVER CAR STOLEN FROM AIR FORCE OFFICER IN ABUJA

The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers allegedly involved in a car snatching incident in Abuja, recovering a vehicle belonging to a Nigerian Air Force officer.
Spokesman of the Command, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, said the suspects—identified as Adamu Adam Abubakar of Zoo Road, Kano, and Umar Bello of Nasarawa Dirkania, Kaduna State—were apprehended following swift intelligence-led operations.
According to him, the incident occurred on October 29, 2025, at about 3:15 a.m., when the suspects invaded a residence in Karu, Abuja, where they allegedly robbed the officer of an unspecified sum of money, mobile phones, and his car.
“Upon receiving intelligence that the suspects were heading towards Kano State, operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad intercepted the stolen vehicle along the Kano–Zaria Expressway, near Salbas Filling Station,” Mr. Kiyawa said.
He explained that the suspects opened fire on the police team during the interception, prompting a gun duel. “In the ensuing exchange, two of the three suspects were demobilized and arrested, while the third suspect escaped,” the statement read.
The police spokesman further revealed that the fleeing suspect, identified only as Dan Malam, escaped with a pistol and some of the stolen valuables. He assured that efforts were ongoing to track and arrest him.
“The Kano State Police Command is pleased to announce the successful arrest of two notorious armed robbers specialized in car snatching and armed robbery. This achievement stems from actionable intelligence and prompt action by the Command’s operatives,” Mr. Kiyawa stated.
He added that the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the synergy between the Intelligence Unit of the Force Headquarters in Abuja and the Kano Command, praising their coordination and professionalism in the successful operation.
The CP also urged residents to continue providing credible information to security agencies, assuring that the police would not relent in ensuring the arrest of the fleeing suspect and bringing all the culprits to justice.
