KIDNAPPERS SUSPECTED TO BE HERDSMEN HOLD ON TO EKITI FARMER AFTER COLLECTING 15 MILLION NAIRA RANSOM, AIDE KILLED

An entrepreneur and farm manager, Omogbolahan Emmanuel Olaniyi, remains in captivity, while one of his staff members, identified as Kazeem, was killed last week following their kidnapping by suspected herdsmen in Ekiti State.

Family sources told SaharaReporters on Wednesday that Olaniyi and Kazeem were abducted on October 23, 2025, at the farm where they work in Oke-Ako town.

The kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of 15 million naira, along with food, drinks, recharge cards, and a mobile phone.

The ransom was reportedly paid on October 30 at Egbe in Kogi State, with the expectation that Olaniyi would be released.

However, he remains in the hands of the abductors, who have now threatened to kill him if additional demands are not met within 24 hours.

The situation took a more critical turn this morning when the kidnappers called the family again.

Instead of negotiating his release, they issued a fresh ultimatum: pay another, N55million ransom within 24 hours or Omogbolahan would be executed.

According to one of the family sources,  “My brother Omogbolahan Emmanuel Olaniyi and one other staff was kidnapped on the 23rd of October 2025 by suspected Fulani herdmen where he works at Ekiti State farm (Oke Ako town) the kidnappers demanded for ransom of 15million naira and other items as food drinks, recharge cards and a cell phone, which was given to them on (30th of October).

“Till now he’s yet to be free and the Governor and government of Ekiti State haven’t done anything about it to secure his release.
Please we need your assistance to reach the ekiti state government to act on the matter.

“This morning the kidnappers called to threaten us to pay the ransom before 24hrs else they will kill him while the other staff Kazeem has been killed since last week Monday.”

In a phone conversation obtained by SaharaReporters, the abductors issued threats and gave an ultimatum, demanding payment or they would harm the victim.

In a distressing moment, the victim’s mother appeared in a video obtained by SaharaReporters, crying and pleading for her son’s life.

“Please, don’t kill him. We are coming. Please stop beating him. For God’s sake, where should we come? Don’t beat the boy. He’s only working for his boss. He just had an accident,” she said.
