In a move believed to be aimed at shaming those who believe that they have a final say over who gets what in Lagos, the State Assembly has passed a vote of confidence on its Speaker, Miranda who has been under pressure from Abuja to resign.
Recall that the House was invaded this morning by DSS agents who sealed off the offices of the Speaker and her deputy.
Despite the events the House went ahead to sit with members expressing shock and displeasure at the turn of events while also defending their inalienable right to pick their leadership and represent the people who elected them.
Subsequently, the House adjourned after a vote of confidence was passed on the current leadership of the House. For now, Meranda and her overwhelming majority of House members have won. How long they will be able to hold on against forces desperate to handpick the leadership of the House is what we do not know.
