Prophet Adefolusho Aanu Osasele, flounder of The Turn of Mercy Church, who was recently arraigned before a Federal High Court, Lagos, for allegedly trafficking in 900 Kilogrames of cannabis Sativa popularly called marijuana, has been released from the facility of the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCoS).
An impeccable source told this medium that the General Overseer was released on Monday, after meeting the bail conditions imposed on him by the court.
Prophet Adefolusho popularly called Abbas Ajakaiye, who has his church Okun-ajah, Ogombo, Lagos, was arraigned before the court presided by Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa by the operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on a count charge of trafficking in 900 Kilogrames of Ghana Loud, a Strain of Cannabis Sativa.
NDLEA through its prosecutor, Barrister M. I. Erondu, had informed the court that the General Overseer who has been on the security watchlist was arrested on August 3, 2024, at Ajah, Lagos, for dealing unlawfully in the prohibited substance.
The prosecutor arraigned the General Overseer on a count charge of unlawful dealing in the prohibited weed, the offence which contravened section 11(c) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act Cap N30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, and punishable under the same Act.
The charge marked FHC/L/682c/2025, against the General Overseer reads: “that you Adefolusho Aanu Osasele, alias Abbas Ajakaiye, Male, Adult on or about the 3rd August, 2025 at Ajah, Lagos State within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court without lawful authority dealt in 900 Kilograms of Ghana Loud, a Strain of Cannabis Sativa, narcotic drug similar to cocaine, heroin and LSD and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 11(c) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act Cap N30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.”
He had denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Based on his not guilty plea, the prosecutor asked for a trial date, while also urged the court to remand him in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Services NCoS, pending trial.
However, his lawyers, moved his bail application which was not opposed. And the court thereafter admitted him to bail in the sum of N50 million with one surety in the like sum.
The judge also ordered the surety to swear to an affidavit of means and to provide evidence of ownership of landed property within the jurisdiction of the court.
Meanwhile, his trial has been adjourned to November 18, 2025.
