Concern is growing among the family and close friends of Nigerian music legend Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, following a series of troubling actions and public statements by the singer — changes many now privately believe began after his relationship with his new wife, Natasha Osawaru.
According to GWG.ng, those close to 2Baba have reportedly tried several times to meet with him to discuss his recent behavior. However, their attempts have been unsuccessful.
The singer recently sparked widespread reactions after making a controversial statement about men and relationships. He said, “Men are not built to be with one woman sexually. A man can love one woman and still desire others.”
Following the backlash from fans and the public, 2Baba posted a heartfelt video on social media, where he apologized to his wife, Natasha Osawaru, as well as to his children and fans. In the emotional clip, he said: “I messed up. I know I’m going to pay a heavy price. I disappointed a lot of people, my fans, my family, especially my wife, Natasha.”
He went further to clarify that his earlier comment was “a poor attempt to explain male psychology,” and admitted it caused more harm than good. “There’s no excuse. I take full responsibility,” he added.
However, in an interview with PUNCH, some of 2Baba’s siblings and close friends shared deeper concerns. They believe the apology video itself is a sign that the music icon may not be in a stable mental state — a situation they fear may have worsened since his marriage to Natasha.
According to them, they suspect that his phone might have been hacked, as messages and other important information are reportedly being deleted before 2Baba can access them.
A family source told PUNCH that the situation has become very troubling. The person said, “This matter is becoming more worrisome for us by the day. Do you know that people had to come from different places, including the United States of America, to have a meeting with 2Baba but he never showed up, even after promising that he would.”
The source also expressed concern about how unusual 2Baba’s recent behavior has been. “This is not the Innocent that we know. He seems like someone being teleguided to do certain things that he normally wouldn’t,” the source said — a veiled reference, family insiders say, to Natasha’s growing influence on his personal decisions.
According to the report, the family is also not happy that 2Baba has abandoned his responsibilities and relocated from Lagos to Edo State. “We are not happy that he has practically abandoned his family, businesses and every other thing in Lagos and relocated to Edo State. He is also not reachable, and that is unlike him,” the source concluded.
While none of the family members openly blame Natasha, those close to them suggest her role in 2Baba’s life has coincided with a period marked by emotional distance, public missteps, and increased isolation.
The family continues to express hope that the situation will improve and that 2Baba will return to a more stable and connected version of himself.
