School Abductions: Some People Don’t Want Education For The North – Bauchi Governor’s Son
The son of Bauchi State Governor, Abdullahi Mohammed, has said that the incessant school abductions in Northern Nigeria are orchestrated by people who are not comfortable with the educational development in the region. Abdullahi stated this on his Instagram on Wednesday, March 17, following the recent kidnapping of pupils and teachers in a primary school in Rema, Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State. No fewer than 618 schools have remained closed in six northern states over the fear of attack and abductions of pupils and members of the staff According to Abdullahi, the North has been the most educationally disadvantaged region for decades but there has been a tremendous growth since 2010. He, however, said certain people are scared of this growth because education means freedom and they want people of the north to remain illiterates He wrote;
