MISAPPROPRIATION OF 11BIL KATSINA MONEY: SHEMA GETS 1BILLION NAIRA BAIL

A former governor of Katsina state in Northern Nigeria, Ibrahim Shema, who has been under trial by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is to be bailed with N1billion.

Daily Trust reports that Shema and three others who appeared before Justice Maikaita Bako on allegation of financial misappropriation to the tune of N11billion.

The other three are Rufai Safana, Sani Makana and Lawal Dakanba.

His arraignment was in connection with diversion of funds during his tenure as governor of the state.

Following his plea of non-guilty to the 22 count charges preferred against him by the EFCC, Justice Bako granted him bail of N1billion and one surety to each of the accused.

The case was thereafter adjourned to March 28 for further hearing.
