Zimbabwean UFC fighter Themba Gorimbo has shared a deeply emotional and painful truth about the challenges he faces not in the octagon, but from within his own family.

Speaking candidly, Gorimbo recounted how some of his relatives, including cousins he once struggled alongside, celebrated his loss in a past fight simply because he doesn’t send them money.

“I’m not a millionaire, maybe I will be one day. After one of my losses, a cousin messaged me. He even sent a video showing some family members celebrating my defeat. They were in the same place we all suffered together 15 years ago,” Gorimbo revealed.

Despite his growing presence in the UFC and his move to the United States, Gorimbo said the misconception that he’s now wealthy has put an emotional strain on his relationships.

“People think just because I live in the US, I’m rich. Someone will send a message saying, ‘Send me $5,000.’ I ask where would I get that kind of money?”

The fighter emphasized that while he may not be able to assist every individual personally, he is committed to giving back to his community in sustainable ways.

“All I try to do is get better not just for myself, but for everyone. I might not be able to help you directly, but I can build a well for the community.”
