The Police Command in Nasarawa State has lost its Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in charge of Department of Operations, Usman Sabo Longlong.
A statement issued yesterday by the command Public Relations Officer, DSP Idirisu John Kennedy, said Longlong died on October 1 at the age of 56 after a brief illness at the University of Jos Teaching Hospital.

“Until his death, the deceased was the DCP in charge of Department of Operations, Nasarawa State police commands headquarter, Lafia,” the statement said.

Kenndy said that the late officer served as Area Commander, Ashaka in Gombe state, AC operations in Minna, Niger state before his transfer to Nasarawa state. Reacting on the death of late Sabo Longlong, the commissioner of police in the state, Abubakar Sadiq Bello, said, “The sudden demise of the this committed officer is heartbreaking, painful, but God gives life and takes it at will.”
Similarly, Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura of Nasarawa state commiserated with police authority over the demise of the DCP Longlong, saying in a statement signed by his Special Assistant, Media, Tukur Ahmed,  “The late police officer was a vibrant and dedicated man who has contributed immensely in security and peaceful development of the state.”
