A National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) operative, identified as Jide, was tragically killed during a raid on a suspected drug hideout in the Ita’nla area of Ondo town.
The incident occurred on Tuesday when NDLEA agents, acting on a tip-off, attempted to recover drugs believed to be stored in the ceiling of a residential building.
According to eyewitnesses, as the team initiated their operation, Jide was stationed outside for guard duty when he was suddenly ambushed and shot in the neck by armed suspects.
Despite being rushed to a local hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The Ondo Command spokesman for the NDLEA, Adebayo Solomon, was unavailable for comments.
However, Police Public Relations Officer Olayinka Ayanlade confirmed the incident, stating that four suspects have been arrested, and a single-barrel gun has been recovered in connection with the crime
