NGO awards scholarships to orphans

About 444 scholarships have been awarded to orphans, a non governmental organisation, Christian Care for Widows, Widowers the Orphans and Aged, has disclosed.
The scholarship programme is for students in primary, secondary schools and tertiary institutions.
The Founder/Chairman, CCWA, Prof. Deborah Ajakaiye, disclosed these at a briefing in Abuja ahead of the organizations annual conference this week on the 18th to 20th of October, 2018. Taking in Abuja.
She said the scholarships were to assist children of widows and widowers as well as those who can not afford education.
Ajakaiye said the aged, widows and widowers remained the most neglected people in the society.
She said: “The aim of the organisation is to assist widows, widowers, orphans and the aged in our society.
“So far, we have awarded scholarships to 444 orphans in primary, secondary schools and tertiary institutions under our founder’s scholarships.”
She also said the organisation had trained over 1,500 widows in various skills acquisition.
Prof Ajakaiye added that about 350 micro-loans to registered members of the nongovernmental organization to implement new business ideas and expand existing once.
