NIGERIAN FORCES CONFRONT BANDITS IN KOGI WEST, CASUALTIES ON BOTH SIDES
Intelligence reports on Tuesday confirmed that Nigerian security forces are engaging armed bandits and terrorists in Okunran, Okoloke, and Isanlu Esa, located in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State. The coordinated operation has already recorded casualties on both sides, with several terrorists neutralized, according to security sources.
Impact on Neighboring Communities
Officials warned that the fighting is not an isolated incident. Neighboring communities including Odo-Ere, Odo-Eri, Ejiba, and Egbe in Kogi State, as well as Eruku, Osi, Obo-Ile, and Oke-Ode in Kwara State, are urged to remain vigilant. Some areas in Niger State are also reportedly feeling the ripple effects of the clashes.
Security Advisory
Authorities have advised residents to watch out for suspicious movements, unfamiliar faces, and strange activities. Communities are encouraged to prioritize safety, remain calm, and share only verified information with security operatives to avoid panic.
Background
This development comes just two days after a deadly bandit raid on Ogba-Ayo community in Oke-Ode town, Kwara State, which left at least 12 people, including the Baale, dead. An unspecified number of residents were abducted during that attack.
In response, the Nigerian Army Headquarters redeployed the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division Ibadan, to Kwara State to reinforce security in the troubled zone.
