NIGERIA’S AMBASSADOR TO KENYA DIES AFTER PROTRACTED ILLNESS

 

Yesterday was a day of grief with pandemonium as hundreds of sympathizers trooped to Nguru town, the Headquarters of Nguru Local Government Area of Yobe State to pay their final respects and attend the funeral prayers of late Ambassador Yusuf Yunusa, former permanent secretary and Immediate past Ambassador of Nigeria to Kenya. Late Ambassador Yusuf Yunusa died after a protracted illness in the early hours of today Friday, 17th November 2023 at the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital Damaturu.

Governor Mai Mala Buni was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Baba Malam Wali.

The funeral prayers were led by the Chief Imam of Nguru Emirate, Imam Shehu Goni Abba.

Buni described the deceased as an elder statesman, dedicated, honest, seasoned civil servant, and technocrat who served a selfless life.

Late Ambassador Yusuf Yunusa, began his career as a classroom Teacher, was promoted to Senior Master, Vice Principal, Principal, Zonal Deputy Director of Education, Director in many ministries later Permanent Secretary, Local Government Council Chairman, Chairman of Yobe State Local Government Service Commission, Commissioner and Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Kenya.

Yunusa was born in Nguru in 1950 and he is survived by 4 Wives, 21 Children, and many grandchildren.
