Former President Olusegun Obasanjo was on Thursday, dragged into the bubble in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP when he appeared in a group picture with Governor Nyesom Wike, his supporters and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi in a photograph taken in London.
GWG reports that Governor Wike and his supporters have been camped in London for about three days. They have in that period met with All Progressives Congress, APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
There have been mixed reports that the Wike group are also expected to meet PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar. However, sources in the Atiku camp told GWG that there is no plan for such a meeting as they allege that the PDP candidate was set to call Wike’s bluff.
The presence of Mr Obi in the picture with the Wike group GWG reports is already feeding frenzy of a possible bid by President Obasanjo who was elected on the platform of the PDP, to forge an agreement between the two tendencies.
Obasanjo has been whispered to be supportive of the presidential bid of Mr Obi on the claim that he believes that the former Anambra State governor is the best among the presidential candidates in the 2023 race.
Details of the engagement of the Nigerian political actors were not immediately available as at Thursday evening but there were suggestions of a move by the Wike group which has been at loggerheads with the Atiku group.
