The Meiran division of the Lagos state police command has charged two motor mechanics to court over alleged molestation. The duo, Taiwo Azeez, 23 and Isiaka Taofeek, 20, who appeared on a two-count charge of conspiracy and rape in Ebute Meta chief magistrates’ court, were alleged to have forcefully had sexual intercourse with Kikelomo Agbebi, 28.
Prosecuting inspector, Chinalu Uwadione said the offence were committed on July 30 around 5.30pm, on 3, Meiran road, Meiran-Ijaiye, Lagos.
Uwadione explained that the complainant’s father had solicited the services of a painter for his 3-bedroom apartment when the duo obliged to take up the job. The accused were said to have forcefully had sexual intercourse with Agbebi in her room, in excuse of painting the rooms.
“It was during the course of painting the rooms that the accused forcefully took turns in having sexual intercourse with Agbebi in one of the rooms where she was staying,” Uwadione said. According to Nwadione, the offence contravenes Sections 258 and 409 of the criminal laws of Lagos state. The Nation reports that, Taofeek and Azeez have since pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against them before the magistrate court while their counsel, Spurgeon Ataene, applied for the bail of his clients in the most liberal terms. Chief Magistrate Oluyemisi Adelaja admitted them to N300,000 bail with two sureties in the like sum and adjourned the matter till September 5.
