POLICE DECLARE GAY SUSPECT WHO ESCAPED FROM CUSTODY WANTED

One Uchechukwu David Anyanwuocha has been declared wanted by the Nigerian Police over homosexuality. Anyanwuocha, a resident of Nyanya Housing Estate, Abuja, had travelled to his hometown, Mbaitolu in Imo State for Christmas last December, and was caught by local vigilantes in January 2023 having intercourse with a male partner.
Homosexuality, being an offence prohibited in Nigeria under Section 214, Subsection 1 & 3 of the Criminal Code as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic, which upholds prosecution of “any person who- (1) has carnal knowledge of any person against the order of nature…” with Subsection 3 stating that any person who “permits a male person to have carnal knowledge of him or her against the order of nature; is guilty of a felony, and is liable to imprisonment for fourteen years.”
The accused, who was taken into custody by the police for further investigation, however escaped from the cell and disappeared into thin air since then.
Anyanwuocha who has been on the run since his escape, is rumored to be hiding outside the country.
The police have therefore announced handsome reward for anyone with useful information that could lead to his re-arrest.
