Popular cleric and founder of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin, has laid his mother, Mama Asetu, to rest in a lavish burial that has gone viral online.
Mama Asetu, who reportedly passed away in May 2025 at the age of 104, was buried in December during a funeral ceremony held in her hometown of Aleibiri, Bayelsa State. The burial took place on Friday, December 12, 2025.
Videos from the ceremony circulating on social media showed the late matriarch being interred in an immaculate gold-plated casket, a detail that quickly drew public attention. Despite the grandeur of the casket, the atmosphere at the burial was solemn as family members, church associates and well-wishers gathered to bid her a final farewell after the funeral service.
Reports claim the gold-plated casket cost over ₦150 million, with some sources putting the figure at more than ₦100 million. The eye-catching burial arrangement left many onlookers stunned and triggered intense discussions online.
Sharing details of the event, @metronaija reported that Prophet Jeremiah buried his late mother in a gold casket valued at over ₦150 million, describing the burial as a befitting send-off for a woman who lived a long life.
