The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) yesterday said it would no longer accept the abduction and killing of its members any more. The Head of Media, RCCG, Mr. Segun Adegbiji, said this on the heels of Sunday morning abduction of a pastor of a parish of the church at Isawo, Ikorodu, Lagos, Mr. Olukayode Bajomo, and the recent murder of an assistant pastor in Kubwa, Abuja, Mrs. Eunice Olawale. This came as Bajomo’s abductors demanded N100 million for his release.

Bajomo was abducted while kick-starting the workers’ meeting in the church. But reacting to his kidnapping, Adegbiji said: “RCCG will no longer accept abduction and murder of our members any more. We hate murder or torture of innocent people; whether they are our members or not.

We like to warn murderers and abductors that God will show up in anger and fire and consume them speedily.” A source close to BajPastor-Enoch-Adeboye-1-929x1024omo’s family said: “The kidnappers called the wife of the pastor this (yesterday) morning. They instructed her to prepare N100 million.

They said that was the only condition which would make them to release Bajomo.” The pastor’s wife and some other members of the church were seen at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) office, Ipakodo, Ikorodu, yesterday.

They were there to make official report of the incident. The family members later led policemen to the place where Bajomo was kidnapped. Our correspondent asked Bajomo’s wife to comment on her husband’s abduction. “I’m not in the mood to talk. My husband’s release is more important to me,” she replied listlessly.

On Sunday morning, the kidnappers disguised as new worshippers to enter the church. They later abducted the pastor inside the church. Bajomo was kidnapped by 7a.m. in the church located at Santos bus stop. Bajomo’s abduction came on the heels of almost daily attacks, killings and kidnappings in Ikorodu area of the state.

On Sunday last week, some militants stormed Oko-Iya Olosa area of Isawo, where they shot a man, identified as Kamoru, and a hairdresser, for resisting abduction. Both victims died. The kidnappers stormed the community about 11p.m. and operated till about 3:30a.m.

They shot and killed five people, including Kamoru and the hairstylist. The bandits abducted three persons; a hotelier identified as Chicago and twins. They later escaped through the creeks in a waiting speedboat.
