All the school pupils and students abducted from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Papiri community, Niger State, have regained their freedom.
News of the remaining pupils’ release was made known by the Office of the National Security Adviser on Sunday evening.
The children were kidnapped when gunmen attacked the boarding school on November 21.
The abduction, which happened in the Agwara Local Government Area (LGA) of the north-central state, was termed the single largest kidnapping to date in Nigeria.
Two days after the incident, the presidency claimed that 50 out of the abducted students had been “recovered”.
It was, however, later revealed that the students had escaped on their own and had reunited with their families.
Presently, it has not been confirmed whether the school’s 12 staff members who were also abducted alongside the pupils have regained their freedom as well.
