How did the 2024/25 UCL round of 16 unfold?
The first four quarter-final spots were snapped up by Barça, Bayern, Inter and PSG on Tuesday, with the Frenchmen delivering the night’s most notable performance by knocking out six-time European Cup winners Liverpool.
After ill-deservedly losing the first leg in Paris earlier this month, PSG levelled the tie at Anfield thanks to Ousmane Dembélé’s goal, before triumphing on penalties.
Meanwhile, Barça, Bayern and Inter all wrapped up comprehensive aggregate victories over Benfica, Bayer Leverkusen and Feyenoord, respectively.

Wednesday’s action then saw Arsenal, Villa, Dortmund and holders Madrid all confirm their progression to the quarters.
Having thumped PSV Eindhoven 7-1 in the first leg of their last-16 tie, Arsenal sealed a huge aggregate win after drawing the return. Villa also eased into the quarters, at Club Brugge’s expense, while Dortmund came from behind in France to edge Lille on aggregate.
In the final last-16 clash to be decided, Madrid eliminated Atlético for the sixth time in six European Cup knockout ties between the city rivals.
Madrid prevailed on penalties at the Estadio Metropolitano, after Conor Gallagher’s first-minute goal for Atlético had cancelled out Los Blancos’ narrow first-leg lead.
