These are not the best of times for Permanent Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ibrahim Lamuwa as his amorous affection for a married staff of the Ministry has landed him in big trouble.

According to the petition written by the senior staff’s lawyers Femi Falana, Ambassador Ibrahim Lamuwa had since 2023 being making advances, directly and indirectly, by asking her to come and sleep in his room during a staff retreat, ‘demanding a hug tight hug’s among many others.

Going further, the petition revealed that the petitioner uncovered series of sexual assaults and molestation by the Permanent secretary against female directors in the ministry, with some removed from foreign postings because they did not accede to his sexual advances.

Reacting to the petition, the Minister of Foreign Affairs has written to the Head of Service of the Federation calling for official action in view of the gravity of the allegations against the Permanent secretary..

In his letter dated 27th May, 2024, Ambassador Yusuf Tugar stated that ‘baring in mind the gravity of the , I feel it necessary to draw your attention to it and ask that you handle it accordingly’.

A copy of the earlier petition by Mrs Simisola Fajemirokun Ajayi’s lawyers, which we quoted above was also attached to the Minister’s letter to the Head of Service.
