TENSION IN OSOGBO OVER ALLEGED ARREST OF ATAOJA AS POLICE CONFIRM HE WAS ONLY GRILLED IN ABUJA

The Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Olanipekun Oyetunji, was yesterday grilled by the police over a petition purportedly authored by a co-monarch in Olorunda Local Government Area of Osun State.

There was chaos in Osogbo yesterday over the Ataoja’s whereabouts. Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) traded words over claims that the monarch was arrested.

Meanwhile, The Nation learnt that Oba  Oyetunji was invited to Abuja by security operatives over a petition authored by a king under his domain, relating to fund

Secretary of the palace Wasiu Bello confirmed that Oba Oyetunji travelled to Abuja over a petition filed against him.

Similarly, National President of the Osogbo Progressive Union (O.P.U), Justice Kunle Adeigbe (rtd), dispelled insinuations that the Ataoja was arrested.

“It’s untrue that Oba Oyetunji is being held in Abuja by the police. The truth is that the Ataoja was invited to Abuja to clear himself of some allegations contained in a petition against him, just like anybody can be invited by the police on any allegation.

“The Ataoja is now already on his way back to Osogbo (as at yesterday). I can confirm to you that the Ataoja is not being detained in Abuja as is being peddled on social media.”
