THREE ARRESTED FOR ATTACKING POLICEMEN WITH MACHETES IN ABUJA
Three suspects have been arrested for allegedly attacking police officers with machetes and other weapons in the Byazhin area of Kubwa, Bwari Area Council, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The suspects arrested are Daniel Effiong Thompson, 23; Jude Danlami Jacob Yohana; and Gabriel Ezekiel, son of the Sarkin Byazhin, who is alleged to have masterminded the attack.
Police sources confirmed to SaharaReporters on Thursday that the incident occurred on Wednesday, when officers responded to a distress call from a trader whose wares had been vandalised by hoodlums.
Upon arrival, the police patrol team was reportedly ambushed by the miscreants, who were armed with machetes and other weapons.
Inspector Wabi Elisha sustained a deep machete wound to the head, while Inspector Sunday Ujah suffered injuries to his face and shoulder.
Both officers were rushed to Kubwa General Hospital, where Inspector Ujah was treated and discharged, while Inspector Elisha was referred to the National Hospital for further medical care.
Meanwhile, the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
