THE POSITION OF IDUGBU TRADITIONAL GUARDS OF URHOBO/ISOKO NATIONS.
THE ITGUIN, the traditional war arm of Urhobo/Isoko Nations in Delta Central, Patani, Burutu, Ondo and in affiliation with her Isoko brothers held an emergency meeting today 26/05/2019 to take absolute position on the current insecurity situation in the Nigeria of today under General Mohammadu Buhari. We have watched with dismay the grave silent of the UPU under the leaderships of both Chief Moses Tigar and Chief Joseph Omene, as well as the IDU with their numerous PGs of each of our kingdoms, as well as the youth wings, with huge disappointment, considering the force with which these dangers are knocking on our territorial boundaries. Recently we read in newspapers how the Fulani Herdsmen have been terrorizing our people at Abraka, Uwheru, Jesse, Emevor, Ughievwie as well as part of Ughelli and UPU and IDU just stood aloof and watch without issuing statements as to how to curb the mernace of these Fulani terrorists. Be that as it may, we have resolved to take the following actions:-
1) We align ourselves completely with the statements issued by former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Gen Theophilus Danjuma, suggesting that Nigerians should resort to self help in the face of these failing responses from those living on our resources, to defend us.
2) We urgently advise the president and all his service chiefs to with immediate effect, commence the transfer of all non Urhobo Urhobo in both Nigerian Police and the three arms of forced out of Delta State and replace them with Southerners, preferably Urhobos, Yorubas, Ibos, Izon, Itsekiris, Calabars etc.
3) That the we have resolved to protect our territories since those paid to do so have betrayed our confidence beyond accepted norms.
4) That we shall engage the Fulani Herdsmen frontally, even with attacks on whatever investments they may have in the aforesaid territories.
5) That we condemned the actions of the Federal government under PMB for the payment of over N100b to Miyetti Allah (The registered arm of Boko Haram & Herdsmen), and also the plan to establish a radio station which we considered is a tool to dish out instructions on how, where and when to attack innocent Southerners.
6) Although it was not our original plan, but we shall not hesitate the temptation to synergize with IPOB and other relevant organizations on the ways forward.
7) No further warnings shall be heard, especially if incidences of kidnapping and killings of our people/tenants ever repeats unabated.
